Making big bucks?

I think that is Al Lyons on the rear platform of the caboose, but an enlargement of the image is a too grainy to allow a positive ID. Al would have been the senior conductor at Durango, and presumably regularly worked the Silvertons during the summer. Indeed he was one of the big promoters of the Silverton (which is why there is a bronze bust of him in from of the Durango station now....or at least was the last time I looked). Perhaps he got called off assignment for the work train, and was making two days pay. Perhaps that is why Al looks so relaxed. Anyone know how the Durango crew board worked?
