Shortly after moving to Colorado in the early 70’s, a friend took me on a camping trip to trace the RGS. It was my first real exposure to much of that country, and I fell in love. Around that time, Silver San Juan was published and following the trip I had to have a copy. It became, and remains, one of my favorite RR books. Sad to say, my copy is in pretty rough shape from repeated reading, reference and age. What a legacy Mal Ferrell left for us to enjoy.
