The water service along the line was still intact in 1946, and there was no need to haul extra water. Tank car 100, which still exists at McEwen yard, was used to haul fuel oil to Austin and Bates. I'm not sure how much fuel was hauled by that date as train service was down to three round trips per week, but many photos from that period show car 100 in the consist. There were no longer helpers stationed at Austin but Oregon Lumber Co. was still hauling logs from a truck reload. The car could have been used for hauling lighter oil like #2 motor fuel, though this would require cleaning the tank if they still hauled bunker C.
