Love your attitude, though I had some directions back in the 1990's, it still really boiled down to what you stated there at the end, you really just have to take your first step out there and do your best at reading the maps, etc... Some of the Charters that I chased back in the 90's helped me find the way too, for they would unload the charter members to do a run by I could see the smoke from the locomotive and then drive towards the smoke and by the time I got to where they were, they had backed the locomotives up and had the group loading back up and I still could get some decent stills, out there in the boonies. Whiplash seems to be one of those places that Charters loved to do run bys, but to me the sagebrush in that area makes it not so fun to do unless you do what James Parfrey did 2021 by standing on top of your rig to avoid all the brushand the people.
