Central City Depot Signal

December 03, 2023 09:50PM
While browsing the DPL's photo library, I came across this Bob Richardson view from the 1950s of the C&S No. 71 on display next to the Central City "depot."
Of particular curiosity is the old train order signal and lamp affixed to the structure. Photos show this signal still in place through the 1950s and into the 1960s. Does anyone know where the signal/lamp came from originally and where it ended up? Did it go to a museum, or a private collection someplace? I'm guessing the lamp and targets were original, but the rest was probably fabricated for display, as there is no mechanism to operate the signal. No, this isn't the one at CRRM. Any suggestions or leads are appreciated. Photo credit: [digital.denverlibrary.org]
