There were times when I fired, that by the end of the day, I was schmutzed so bad by the locomotive that I didn't recognize the face in the mirror when got off work. When I left at the end of each summer I'd have grime ground into my calluses that would take weeks to go away. Even to this day, the overalls I wore and now wear at Tilden still have cinders in the pockets 22 years later...
