What happened to the CHS is no different than what is happening all over this once great country of ours. You have to only “follow the money” to find the answer. The GLRR created one of the premier tourist RR’s in the country through the efforts of the Ashby’s and countless other individuals who poured their blood, sweat and tears into creating this RR from nothing. The CHS has watched with envious eyes as the GLRR has turned into a multi-million dollar enterprise right under their nose. Now they have decided as an organization to snatch up the equity that has been built up and attempt to redistribute the profits for themselves. Much speculation has been offered on this board for the reasons behind it, but in the final analysis it all comes down to plain and simple greed.
The CHS has burned the bridge with the railfan community and it will be a cold day in hell before many of us ever patronize the RR after Oct. 2. We will tell our friends and spread the word far and wide to avoid this operation, withdraw support for the CHS organization and advise our corporate clients to put their contributions elsewhere. History is what the CHS is supposed to be about, and they have just written a chapter that will long outlive the unethical and morally bankrupt individuals who currently represent the CHS.
