The following information is from a newly published book BENEATH BLUE MESA by David M. Primus.
Hugh McVean, a saloon owner in Sapinero, built the Metropolitan Hotel in 1890.
In 1916, Rocco Santarelli purchased the hotel and renamed it since the first Sapinero Hotel had burned and the name was available.
Now to find that book that was mentioned and explore its potentials.
