Hello Everyone!
Thanks to the generous help of Dan Silbaugh, we are getting closer to completing the repair work of the body and wall framing of C&S caboose 1006. Diagonal braces have been replaced or repaired, and all new nail boards (longitudinal boards along the walls) have been made and installed. All material has been provided and milled by Dan Sibaugh, and has helped immensely in moving forward.
New siding will be our next big step as we move into the spring and early summer.
Short diagonal brace that we elected to replace due to deterioration.
Replacement brace with cuts made for bifurcation of the notched sections. These notches accept the nail boards that run in front of this brace.

Volunteer Matt Brooks uses a draw knife to clean up the notches on the existing braces in preparation for installing new nail boards.
