There's not much I can add to the above. Eldon was my go-to guy for identifying the fellows in photographs.

I can add that Roy Brown hired as a fireman on 10/4/15 and got promoted to engineer on 10/23/19. He was still on the roster in 1961. By 1943 he had given up his fireman's seniority and was senority number 44 on the Alamosa Engineer's Roster.

Emil Madorin hired on 10/5/17 and was promoted to engineer in 5/4/46. When promoted to engineer, he was the first man to be promoted since 1926! In 1959 he still held fireman's seniority and was number 2 on the fireman's seniority roster.

I wish I had a 1959 engineer.'s roster, t0 match the fireman's list, but I guess Eldon didn't keep that one. Likewise, I wish I had more rosters from the 50's and mid-60's.

Mr Lane makes comment about running the helper light behind the RMRRC train (the helper was 491), and giving up trying keep up with Roy running the 476 on the train. Keeping up with a low-flying 470 on a lumbering 490 running light would have been an impossibility...
