Jason,

Raggs did not do the Ouray depot in HO, oddly enough. I have one of his Crested Butte depot kits (a very, very similar structure save for the roof) that I plan to kitbash into the Ouray depot.

I chose the 1940s simply because I like the Flying Grande logo, which began to appear on locomotives and rolling stock in 1940, and I have a lot of locomotives and rolling stock that have that logo. Basically my era is 1940 to 1947, the year before the Ouray depot burned.

Backdrops are planned to be photos, though the sky might be painted. I will be getting some photos myself of spots I need for Ouray while I'm out there prior to the NNGC next year.

I'm glad you like the track plan. I tried to get it as close as possible to the arrangement that remained in Ouray by the early 40s, and it is very close. There is a bit of compression, as all layouts are, but it is so close it is easily recognizable, and that's what I wanted.
