D&S update and jobs

As we get close to the end of our Silverton season I thought I would give a quick update on things, and put a plug in for a few new positions we have open.
Operationally, our steam service has seen around 130 total doubleheaders this season, and it's looking like a few more to come next week. 473,76,80,and 82 have handled most of those with the 493 nearly ready for daily service heading into our Polar and Winter operations along with 481. In the diesel world the 101,103, and our Rockstar 107 have handled the diesel duty, with this week seeing the first MU diesel operations. All that along with the Summer Cascade Express has put 2022 on pace with 2021 ridership, exceeding even the best 1980's Bradshaw years.
Our car department has been very busy as well with some major car rehabs on the docket and contract work, including Hinsdale Counties #211 combine. We are working with them to put together some updates over the coming months on its progress and how you can help support it. For now, here are a couple of teaser pictures showing the progress on the newly rebuilt sills and wall.
On the locomotive side, the regular maintenance of the active fleet continues as well as various outside projects and larger work such as starting work on the 486 at some point in the not too distant future. So if you are interested, and able, we have a few new positions now open including Assistant Roundhouse Foreman, Machinist, and Carman. All are Full Time, Year around positions with full benefit packages. All current job postings can be found here:
