Jim,
This is all new grade towards the new depot we constructed last year. It is close to where the original grade was, however since the railroad was abandoned, the area has been mined, and buildings built on some of the original grade in town including the original depot site.
Plans are to cross the river past the depot and bring the track back around on a loop. The tracks will head south on the opposite side of the river and cross the river again down past the current end of track. The total length of the new construction including what is posted here is about a mile long.
The other end of the line is going to be extended 5 miles to the east, with one mile on historic grade before it plunges into the lake. At this location the tracks will be built on totally new grade for 4 miles towards the union creek campground. This line will have one bridge across Deer Creek and 2 trestles before reaching the campground. The largest trestle is 70' high and 220' long. These are pretty exciting times at the railroad.
