Jason's correct. Here is the watercolor sketch by Francis "Frank" Hodgman done in November 1881 of the Lower Backswitch of the Utah & Pleasant Valley, which was folded into the D&RGWRy. The Backswitch was a double switchback crossing of the Great Basin Divide; this side, all water flows into the Great Salt Lake. On the other side of the mountain it flows into the Colorado River and the Pacific.
This location is on private land now, and I had permission from the landowner to be there.
This painting wound up in Jack Thode's collection and I hope it's still around.
