I think shay #8 last ran somewhere around 1987 or so...
In April of this year, it was brought inside the Silver Plume Shop and freshly painted for display in Georgetown in front of the Old Georgetown Station, where 2-8-0 #44 used to sit until 2000, when it was trucked up to Silver Plume for what was supposed to be a 2-4 year restoration (that has since stalled).
As far as restoration of #8, your guess is as good as mine. It doesn't need anything extremely major that I know of, but does of course need a fairly good amount of work to run again.
If the GLRR pulls out at the end of this season, who knows where it will go or what will be done with it.
