Interesting move by the 497 on the 14th, flagging to Lobato and returning with a train. Maybe there was an obvious answer buried in there, but I couldn't find it. Seems like there are two possibilities. The most likely in my mind is that they used the 497 as a taxicab to go get a train that had died on the law at Lobato. Another possibility is perhaps somekind of bad order that caused somebody to set out part of their train there. Or maybe they had an order that allowed them to run past Lobato once they had met a train or engine there, but from their arrival time back in Chama they couldn't have gone too much father. Or???? If it was a hog law problem, I wonder why the dead crew didn't show up on the register. Fascinating peak into what was a very busy railroad at the time.
