Overturned Passenger Train On The SVRy

On Aug. 5th, 1928, this happened. We are looking at the Sumpter Valley Ry.'s west bound passenger train with engine #1 on its side west of Larch. I have shared other photos of this wreck as our SVRR Archive has a set of nitrate negatives likely taken by the railroad to document the incident. Quite a few others seem to have taken a few shots which are mixed throughout our archive collection. The cause of the accident so far as I know was a loose wheel on the lead truck of the RPO. All of the equipment was repaired and put back in service.
