In the 1970's Sumpter Valley Railroad's wood burning Heisler #3 had such a hose. It was not only good for putting out the numerous trackside fires but was useful for cleaning the locomotive. The down side was that, using hot water from the injector, you had to have well insulated gloves to hold it. When we set a pile of old ties on fire the squirt hose was insufficient and we had to have help from the Sumpter fire department.
