What sort of speed did you gear it for? Shays weren't the fastest things to start with and you're at scale. Also, do scale shays in operation generate enough force on the rotational shafts and sleeves to bind up on curves the way the full-scale prototypes sometimes did? Do you expect to have to throttle down when entering or leaving sharp curves?
