Coal?

I grew up with oil burners so I have no problem with that. But I am curious what the outlook is for the remaining coal burners. Will they be converted to oil, or will they be preserved and if so when (and if) would conditions be appropriate for their usage. If this has been covered earlier I appologize for not paying more attention. I rather enjoy the transition going on at the D&S, it is perhaps what might have happened if the DRGW had kept running the ng. for another decade or two.
