American Steel & Wire Co. was one of the oldest and possibly the largest wire company in US. The 3' engines were used in the North Works at Worchester, MA to move coal and other functions of the plant and process. Their Vulcan which was #18 survived and was recently painted on display at KENT FURNACE, CT.
Part of the North Work plant is a up-class restruant today.
