Here's a higher-res copy of Terry Ross' original CATS logo, Laurel -
Stolen from the 5½" × 6½" version on the first page of his copyrighted 1971 book:
I strongly suggest contacting Terry for permission if you plan to use the logo for anything other than a personal, non-commercial project.

p.s. The Flying Rio Grande fonts available for model railroad use appear to NOT utilize letter-spacing and kerning tables that would be incorporated in a font used for professional typesetting, so you may have to adjust the spacing manually. Here's a comparison before and after some initial modifications:
