That is a pretty good description. I had the pleasure of working with Marvin back in the RGRPC days, and he was always there, knew the answers, and was ready to tackle about any challenge. Or perhaps put another way, he saved my butt on more than one occasion. Off the top of my head I can't think of anything Marvin can't do on the railroad. But as Earl said, he was always most comfortable in the background and away from the cameras. Somewhere I must have a picture of him but I can't find one fast enough to post it here! Although I remember a GREAT picture of him, taken by somebody else, leaning out a firebox door from inside the firebox. Marvin is one of the key reasons the C&TS is still here today, it would be hard to exaggerate his contributions for so many years.
