Sardinia is a mountainous island with an extensive network of narrow gauge lines. The gauge is just barely more than 3 ft gauge - 950 mm or 3 ft 1.4 in. While regular services are diesel powered, there is still steam available for charters or sightseeing trips. In May 2009 my wife Patsy and I joined two Railway Touring Company steam tours back-to-back: Tuscany and Sardinia. Here are a few photos Patsy took while I was recording videos of our charter train between Arbatax and Mandas in Sardinia. The engine is a 2-6-2T built by OM (Officine Meccaniche Italiane) in 1931.
