For those of you not familiar with former State Senator Hugh Fowler of Colorado he has been a stalwart supporter of the C&TSRR for over thirty years. He is a founder of this wonderful railroad. He successfully sponsored the legislation in Colorado that established the railroad, he played a key role in formulating the agreements between the two states that underlie the ratifying Compact and established the powers of the Commission, and he even dug into his own pocket to pay the $8,000 bill to transport the 463 from Gene Autry's place in California to Antonito.
He remains active in Colorado politics and has worked tirelessly in the halls of state government on behalf of the C&TSRR Most importantly he understands the Colorado political realities and funding difficulties faced by the railroad in that state. He knows of what he speaks.
