Thanks for the suggestion, I decided to try a similar approach and made this image:
First I tried to estimate the pixel height of the post in green, which I measured to be about 130 pixels.
Then, I measured the pixel width of the rails at the closest point to the post in orange. That was about 225 pixels.
Therefore, the height of the post is about 57.7% of the gauge of the rails.
If this is a standard gauge railway, that would mean the width of the rails apart is about 56.5 inches.
If this is a meter gauge railway, as I suspect, that would mean the width of the rails apart is about 42 inches.
Putting this together, we can say the following:
[*] If this is a standard gauge railway, then that post marked in green is about 32.6 inches tall.
[*] If the railway is meter gauge, then that post in green is 24 inches, or two feet, tall.
So to draw the conclusion you have to subjectively decide if these posts are closer to 32.6 inches tall, or if they are closer to two feet tall. Two feet is a round number that in my view looks more similar to the actual dimension of these posts than 32.6 inches. That would imply this is a meter gauge railway if that is true. However, it is ultimately subjective if you think these posts look significantly taller than two feet high.
