Actually, it makes perfect sense.
George R. R. Martin, author of the Game of Thrones books, was one of three investors who bought the SFS in 2020. That scheme is meant to look like a "dire wolf" from the Game of Thrones books and HBO series.
Now, I like railroady schemes on railroad equipment, but if SFS wants to lure people (the vast, vast majority of whom are
not railfans) back to their trains, something novel like this is probably a decent way to do it. Considering the popularity of Game of Thrones, you could do a whole GoT themed train with folks in costume and get a whole group of riders who might otherwise never have given a thought to riding the SFS.
