Well gang, I have waited a while to mention this but at this posting I think it is time to do so. I regards to walking tours, either the RR or the Friends organization desparately need to clean up the railroad. When I was there last (July the 15th for the Moonlight ride) I took a walk around the yard area in Chama and tried to look at it from the eyes of a tourist instead of those of a foaming railroad lover. What I saw was a lot of trash and garbage laying around, that gives the appearance of a railroad garbage dump. If I were a tourist I doubt that I would have the confidence to ride a train that resides in such a poorly maintained site. Now I'm not referring to the old rusty railroad parts and just stuff laying around, I am referring to out and out trash and garbage. I think that if the railroad doesn't have the time to clean it up, at least the Friends could set aside one of their work sesions to address this problem. This area doesn,t just look like and old railroad, preserved as a museum, it looks like a landfill. Something has to be done!!!!
