"One of the reasons I wanted to do this roundup in the first place was to generate more interest in the earlier timeframe of the railroad and to stir more research into that era. I hope this interest will include a better understanding of operating practices and working conditions not just paint."

A series of questions had been asked a few years ago about the water tank at Lava. I was wondering if the tank at Lava is going to be used during the VIHR? If not is there a plan to place water bottles on the turnabout prior to the tank to help these locomotives keep hydrated? Or are they going to carry a Gramps tank car full of water behind them for emergencies? With all the runbys that the phraud-o-graphers are going to want to take they'll need to have plenty of water, coal and wood too. Are there going to be gondolas parked along the way to replenish the wood, coal, etc...? The get "down to brass tacks" of the operation is going to be horrendous. Having at least 5 Victorian Horses on the rails is going to be a logistics challenge to pull off a great show.
Still a Student,
