August 18 - 22 are the dates. A while back I received a "flyer" in the mail, but exact events were not explained.
Going by previous "Railfest" activity, lets assume that many things will be done again.
A "Railfest" package was sold, it excluded any train fares. What it did include was a T-Shirt, lapel pin, admission to the night photo session, admission to the museum, Friday night reception, railroadiana swap meet, locomotive whistle blowing event (collection of various whistles & sounds they make). Museum can be visited as many times as needed.
Sales of the above package usually began outside the depot building on Wednesday afternoon. Galloping Goose #5 arrived and unloaded, Eureka #4 arrived and unloaded. Both running with special trips for next four days.
In Silverton, a group of approximately 20 "speeder cars" arrive and unload. They operate next 3 days from Silverton to Rockwood and back, overnight lay over at Silverton.
Friday evening is the reception in the Museum, music, cash bar, finger sandwiches, dips, snacks, etc.
Saturday morning D&SNG President Al Harper has his special train to Silverton & return. Think tickets are limited to 100 passengers (?).
Dedication of the newly restored "Needleton Tank" will be held sometime during all of this.
In March Kristie Cohn Nelson who was the VP of Advertising & Public Relations retired. Thus maybe the reason why the D&SNG web site does not list 2004 events detail by detail.
See you there in August, order your tickets early!
