I acquired a few original Narrow Gauge News flyers and this photo of 225s tender tank was in it with this discription.
"In March from Durango came the tender tank that in the past half century has set empty and abandoned on Perkins Peak, early in the century, probably about 1906, the Calumet (correction Boston Coal & Fuel Co.) Fuel. Co. Operating the coal mine on the peak, obtained the tank to serve as a water storage. One of the busier movements of the 5-mile line off the RGS was to supply water for the mine.
Of iron, not steel, it appears to be the original for engine 225 an 1882 C-16 2-8-0. The big figures on the side of the tender are remarkably clear after all these years.
The movement of the tender was done by volunteers, including Bob Shank and friends at Durango, Ken Barrow and others from here.
Still a Student,
Dave
