I really wonder if it may of been part of the folks that don't like the train and blame the D&S for everything, including accidentally stepping on a lego.
. This really angers me to the core. Folks that don't understand the history and the concept of the locomotive. I mean how would they feel if someone went over the took possible car/house parts off their property or vandalized it? I never understood why vandalize, graffiti & destroy someone else's' property that you don't know or own. If they are possible trying to prove a point, it's a real asshole way of going about it with no care outside of their own logic.
Visiting the locomotive two years ago on my annual offroad trips, I really loved seeing the locomotive being a huge fan of Petticoat & Ticket to Tomahawk. The Durango Historical Society really kept a great maintenance and upkeep to it. It just sickens me to see this happen to it now. I hope the vandals are caught and thrown in jail. If there is a donation or gofundme, I wouldn't mind throwing some money towards seeing it restored again. However, seeing how they got away with it once...the same people or others would probably do the same to it again. I am wondering if any cameras caught them?
