I was researching the 723 and came across this post, so thought I would update you. You will be glad to know that the 723 is in good hands.
A neighbor of the Thains, who kinda grew up on the 15" gauge CC&E there, bought the car with the idea of taking it to his place to keep it from being busted up for firewood or something. Then he found out that my son, his friend since 2nd grade and fellow CC&E railroader, had bought the property, so he gave the car to him for his birthday, and it is still safely under cover in that barn.
Last I heard, the plan is to
eventually set it up near the CC&E, cosmetically restore it, and use it as a library/club room for the Friends of the Comanche Crossing & Eastern Railroad (FCCERR), a 501(c)(3) that was recently created to maintain and operate the CC&E. By the way, anyone interested in joining the FCCERR or getting involved with it is welcome. Check us out at [
