Re: NNG - 611 Footage

Yes, it's the same Danville made famous in "The Wreck of the Old 97." There are significant grades on both sides of town in order to climb out of the Dan River valley, The wreck occurred coming downgrade (southbound) into Danville. In this video 611 is climbing the grade south of Danville; it's already come down the grade made famous in the Wreck of the Old 97. Sometime after the wreck the line was completely re-aligned, eliminating curves and reducing the grade. It's more than a 3-mile grade now, but I believe it's less than 1% (I don't have the track chart handy). The wreck site is quite a bit west of the current mainline, but I can't remember exactly where (it's not easy to spot on Google maps).
