Here is another scene of the meet with 2-8-0 109
I suppose that this scene could put any visiting Swiss railfan into instant cardiac arrest (or at least make their teeth hurt), but litterbugs are not unique to El Salvador. Better to focus on that incredible 1896 tenwheeler and her mixto.
On this trip I carried a Super 8 silent movie camera and a Sony Tape recorder under the illusion that I could somehow coordinate the movies and the sound in the future. One of the highlights of this trip was meeting this group of boys who saw my tape recorder, and wanted to be recorded. They sang into the microphone, and that recording is one of my very favorite recordings that I still listen to once in a while. Well, I would rate those recordings in third place after a Prussian P8 4-6-0 climbing into the Black Forest, and a 12 class 4-6-2 accelerating a heavy passenger train from several station stops to 75 mph between Muenster and Norddeich in Germany.
