Sonoma Valley Railroad. The most complete history I have found is in Hilton's tome on ng. railroads. The various histories of the NWP the I have looked at seem to mention it only in bits and pieces, the NPC seems to get all the attention (probably because it lasted longer). But the Sonoma Valley Railroad is interesting because it started with the relatively well known but unsuccessful Sonoma Valley Prismoidal Railway, a variation on the mono-rail theme. When that failed it was replaced with a series of 3-foot lines that eventually extended from Glen Ellen to Ignacio, where it connected with the standard gauge line north from Tiburon. The 3-foot operation lasted from 1877 to 1890, when it was standard gauged.
