Especially the first year with 1744. It took most of the summer to blast most of diesel soot off the inside of tunnel. We also found all the loose rocks in the ceiling and knocked them down, usually landing on the running boards or the cab roof. One big one took out the cab door in front of me, shattering the glass.

I learned to take a deep breath, put my head down, close my eyes, and wait until it was over.
