Scanning Negatives - Advice Needed

January 15, 2021 12:03PM
Like many, I have a number of black and white negatives that I would like to print or have printed. While 80 percent of them could be thrown away and not missed, there are a few that show detail of steam locomotives that I could use. I gave my darkroom equipment away years ago, so can't do them myself anymore. I've looked at a few websites that show how to do it with a digital SLR or slide scanner, neither of which I care to invest in. I do have a common scanner/printer. Is there a way to do it with one of those? I know some here do all sorts of digital hocus-pocus with old photos and slides. I don't expect a detailed discussion here, but perhaps someone could provide links to helpful websites or maybe suggest a commercial firm that would do a good job without breaking the bank. Thanks.
