During the second week of July Stathi brought over his portable boring bar to help us out by boring the Bissell post hole in the pilot deck. The bore was badly worn because the previous liner had broken free, causing the deck itself to wear.
Here is the replacement liner.
The king bolt in the Bissell post was cracked and badly worn so a new one was manufactured.
The setup 463 has been running on for years had a torch cut plate for the Bissell post cap that was larger in diameter than the post itself. This led the plate to bottom out while going around curves, causing the long equalizer to transfer the locomotive’s weight to the pilot deck instead of the pilot truck. Here is the new king bolt installed in the freshly machined Bissell post with a new cap of the correct diameter.
Two of the four coil spring keepers had pin holes that were wallowed out so two new keepers were manufactured.
