The limiting factor on curves for a 3-truck Shay is the short distance between the engine unit and the middle truck. On right hand curves, the sliding square shafts bottom out, and bind up if the curve is too sharp.

If Lima says that 60 degree curves are the maximum, I'd take that to the bank.

I don't know what the maximum curvature at Roaring Camp is, but it is less than 60 degrees, otherwise #7 wouldn't make it.
