I'm assuming you meant the
K-37's started out as std gauge? 'Cause the Uintah engines sure didn't.
And the reality is more like the D&RGW used lots of parts from std gauge C-41's (Baldwin, 1901) in building new engines, not so much that they rebuilt std to narrow. There have been lots and lots of threads about just how much or the 37's came from where on here.
Anyway, the Uintah engines were much larger, any way you want to measure it, except rigid wheelbase.
