John,
I don't know how much time you have to visit
Colorado, but a visit to the Colorado Railroad Museum would be well woth while.
No steam but a whole lot of good history there. Over
60 pieces of narrow gauge equipment from many different narrow gauge lines. some of that wide stuff also.
There will be something in the roundhouse/restoration shop to look over.
