As to the cost of one of the White Pass units, which wasn't disclosed, by the D&S, which I'm guessing could be high 6 figures.,or maybe 7 figures, but we'll never know, unless some talks about the acquisition costs.
The question is, could the C&T scrounge up the dollars to get one?, They have a rail connection, to the outside world, via the tail of the standard gauge wye, at east end of the railroad, which might be less money, than trucking it all the way, maybe they could get the rail transportation costs donated, but that's a different discussion, also if they run as is, and don't do the preventive maintenance, the D&S is doing, they could forestall the need for the demand for dollars, in the beginning of ownership
It sure would help the C&T, if & when the Forest Service says NO-GO during fire/drought issues, in the national forests, that the railroad passes through.
So in the end, the question is .... where is the $$$ going to come from?
