Then you can keep it as simple as possible and--do nothing. It already had roughly similar capacity. Call it something like 10,000 to 11,000 lbs tractive effort for the "Mountaineer" versus about 11,600 or so for the rebuild-era T-12, and less than that in their original version with the old straight boilers. That's plenty close enough for a "what if."

Edit: You can work out your imagined overhaul yourself, if desired. Suppose a new boiler allows a 160 pound working pressure. Now you're looking at over 13,000 pounds tractive effort and you'll outpull the ten-wheeler assuming weight increased a sufficient amount. "Useful" is a matter of debate. It's unlikely an engine that size would ever be desired for regular service when there are vastly larger options sitting around--the 168 is itself intended for specialty work, not regular use. Your fairlie could do that sort of specialty work, too.
