Now you're doubling (or tripling) crew costs and not making any money anyway. Only way you're getting a replica of that or any other 19th century engine new-built is if it's by some well-to-do enthusiast or group of enthusiasts who accept the sunk cost and can afford to do so. It does happen from time to time. Right now there's a reproduction of one of the D&RG 4-4-0's under construction contracted by a private individual who allows updates to be posted once in a great while. A different group of individuals hopes to eventually replicate a DSP&P Mason single fairlie in the longer term.
