At risk of causing significant thread drift- why ever not?
What I see on the news here for the past 4 years has been very uncomplimentary about your president, and consequently the American keenness for God, guns, eagles and "America is number 1".
However, what I see on the news for the past 30 years has been very uncomplimentary about Britain, its history, politics, policies, brexit and everything else.

So it seems the news is not to be relied on. Instead I base my assessment of America and Americans on people I know, and those I encounter on here and carpentry forums, and frankly, apart from the kardashians and the whole eagle bothering thing, you seem a thoroughly decent lot. I'd come to the states tomorrow-I've got a hammer, and I can read a tape in inches. Anyone need a carpenter?
