I'm really sorry to hear the bad news. Doug was a kind and generous man who liked nothing more than being in his office in the wood shop and helping out Friends volunteers working in the Chama yard with advice and tools from his personal stash. He was always cheerful, even when his health began to fail. No trip to Chama for me would be complete without a visit to Doug's place to catch up on C&TS news and the narrow gauge in general. I last saw him in early March when John Cole and I were working as wranglers on the snow plow charter and he was just the same cheerful Doug, a pleasure to be around.
RIP Doug, you were one of the best.
