When I worked on Dave Ferro's team rebuilding the two pop cars that ran on the CATS/ Rio Grande (#s 4 and 13), one of the engines had roller bearings on the crank and the other engine had ball bearings. I joked to Dave that I had rebuilt a lot of engines in my career but never one the OTHER side of WW2 before, and never a 2 stroke. When you hand crank a two stroke, getting it to reverse directions without killing the engine is an art form.
I wonder if the difference between a RQC and and RQD is the different style of crank bearings.
