I am thrilled to see the WP&Y take delivery of the new locos regardless of a paint design. I agree with "kcsivils"; new narrow gauge equipment anywhere is a good thing. It is an investment into the future. 2020 is not going to be a nice year financially to any one; capital investment in new equipment is risky. I applaud the WP&Y, D&S and CATS for making investments in new or refurbished locomotives and other rolling stock whether it is steam or diesel powered. It is likely 2020 will be a total bust for the WP&Y considering there are no cruise ship sailings up the Inside Passage this summer. Canada has banned all cruise ship sailings and has severely restricted overland travel between Alaska and the Lower 48 States for this summer. The Alaska State Ferry is operating in the south-east panhandle and is having a tough time keeping up with local service demands. The paint design is in the eyes of the beholder, be happy there is something new on the rails.
