Your post is poetic. I felt the same way from the moment we left Chama for Alaska and then in California. Railroads in both places 36" gauge to boot. Somehow not the same feel as Chama.
It is strangely quite here now at night. One of my favorite things has always been to go and stand at the north end of the engine house at midnight with four hot engines surrounding me.
We eagerly await the return of life here in Chama.
